Robin Cave – Chief Executive Officer
Joined Czarnikow 2009. Appointed to Board 2009
Robin joined Czarnikow in July 2009 as Chief Executive Officer. Prior to this he had a long career in Equity Derivatives and Equity Financing with 19 years at Merrill Lynch and, more recently, two years with HSBC in London. He has managed various trading teams across a number of geographic areas. He holds an MSc in Finance from London Business School. Robin has also been a Director of the International Stock Lenders Association and sat on the Equity Advisory Committee of the International Swap Dealers Association. Robin is a Director of C. Czarnikow Limited.
Julian Randles – Chief Financial Officer
Joined Czarnikow 2012. Appointed to Board 2014
Julian joined Czarnikow in April 2012 as Director of Finance, before moving to his current position. Having gained a mathematics degree and qualifying as an accountant with Grant Thornton, he joined ED & F Man, holding roles in its cocoa, sugar and brokerage divisions and gaining experience in London, Nigeria and New York. In 2007, Julian worked at Olam’s London office where he was responsible for controlling European operations and, following this, he worked as CFO of a private equity team. He holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business (NYU) and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales.
Adam Leetham – Director
Joined Czarnikow 1995. Appointed to Board 2006
Adam joined Czarnikow in 1995 and was responsible for establishing Czarnikow offices in Moscow and Delhi. In addition he has spent time in Singapore and Sao Paulo for the Group. Adam was appointed a Director in 2006 and since September 2011 has been based full time in the UK, where he is responsible for raw sugar trading. Adam is a graduate from Durham University with a BA (Hons) in Russian and also speaks Portuguese. Adam brings a wealth of global knowledge from his experience in key markets back to London Head Office.
James Brittain – Director
Joined Czarnikow 1996. Appointed to Board 2014
James was educated in Canada, Ireland and India and the UK, and read Maths and Economics at University in London. After working in the US as lead buyer and trouble-shooter for US conglomerate, James joined Czarnikow in 1996, and spent the first 10 years of his career in the physical trading of raw and white sugar in many different countries. Subsequently, James’s roles have included: derivatives trading and strategy and developing new business opportunities both within and outside of the physical sugar sphere. James has built and nurtured a wide variety of relationships with larger corporates both within the sugar sector, and with many risk seeking clients such as investment banks, hedge funds and oil majors. James now leads the analysis and advisory businesses at Czarnikow
Jonathan Williams – Director
Joined Czarnikow 1986. Appointed to Board 1993
Jonathan spent a number of his early years at Czarnikow developing the sale of Australian raw sugar to clients in the Far East, Middle East and Eastern Europe. He was appointed a Director of C. Czarnikow Sugar Limited (now Czarnikow Group Limited) in 1993. In 1995 he moved to Singapore to head Czarnikow’s operations in Asia before moving back to London in 2003 to develop business in the EU. In 2005 he established the Ethanol division and in 2006 he assumed responsibility for trading in Central and North America. In 2011 Jonathan assumed responsibility for all activities in the Americas, Russia and EU. In 2007, Jonathan became a founding council member of the Ethanol Association of London (EAOL).
Nick Wainwright – Director
Joined Czarnikow 2000. Appointed to Board 2014
Nick joined Czarnikow in 2000, having graduated from Edinburgh University with an MA in English Literature. After a period on the QSL brokerage desk, Nick moved to work in Czarnikow's industrial user supply chain team, focusing mainly on the Middle East and North Africa. In 2004, Nick moved to Singapore into a regional Asian role, responsible for a number of key markets over a 6 year period. Nick assumed responsibility for the region as Regional Director in 2010, and joined the Board at Group level in 2014
Norman Blum – Director
Joined Czarnikow 1991. Appointed to Board 1993
Norman joined C. Czarnikow Sugar Limited as part of the merger with J H Rayner in 1991 where he was senior sugar trader. He was appointed to the Board in January 1993 with specific responsibility for white sugar trading. He has played a key role in the creation and development of the Czarnikow white sugar container business, which today sources sugar from Brazil to Australasia for clients around the globe. In 2012 he was appointed joint Head of Bagged Sugar alongside fellow Director, William Rook. Norman also serves as an arbitrator at the Refined Sugar Association of London.
Tiago Medeiros – Director
Joined Czarnikow 1998. Appointed to Board 2014
Tiago was appointed to the Czarnikow Group board in 2014 and is responsible for the company´s operations in Brazil. He started his career working for a Brazilian investment bank on their corporate finance desk supporting large organisations with their capital raise strategies. In 1998, he joined Czarnikow in Rio de Janeiro and focused on physical and derivatives trading, as well, as brokerage. Given his finance background, Tiago developed innovative finance structures which helped leverage Czarnikow´s physical book in Brazil and resulted in a newly formed Corporate Finance division based in Sao Paulo. Between 2007 and 2013, Tiago worked as Global Head of Corporate Finance leading the division to conclude more than USD 3.0 billion of transactions including M&A, DCM, ECM, debt structuring and company reorganisation. In 2013, Tiago took responsibility over the entire business in Brazil. He holds a MBA in Corporate Finance and a degree in Business Administration.
William Rook – Director
Joined Czarnikow 1989. Appointed to Board 2000
William began his Czarnikow career in 1989 where he worked initially as an execution broker in UK oil derivatives and for Harley Mullion, Czarnikow’s freight brokerage, before moving to the sugar division. In the early 1990s he was involved in physical brokerage into the UK and Canadian markets and refined trading into Russia. In 2000 William was appointed to the Board of C. Czarnikow Sugar Limited (renamed Czarnikow Group Limited in 2007) with responsibility for Czarnikow’s bagged sugar brokerage and trading business activity in Africa and the Middle East. In 2012 he was appointed joint Head of Bagged Sugar alongside fellow Director, Norman Blum.
